I would have loved to dine in here but we were rushing through to get back to Cape Town so had to just get a take away. The staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the veg and prawn dumplings and I really enjoyed the sweet and spicy chicken, I just wish I'd have ordered noodles instead of rice to accompany it. Rice is advised, but I am not a big rice person. The chicken did have a bit of a kick to it.

A bit hidden away, but we are very happy to have found this little gem. We tried four different dishes and each one tasted excellent. Definitely worth a visit!
This is a great little restaurant in a good location in Simon’s Town. The dumplings were delicious and we sampled the prawn dumplings and the steamed pork buns as wells as peanut butter noodles. It was all great and very filling. The pork buns were my favourite and accompanied by the chilli oil which I loved. We also had a watermelon iced tea and a cashew and avocado smoothie which was so refreshing and tasty. The staff were pleasant and friendly and I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Had an amazing meal at Red Dumpling in Simonstown! Their chicken fried rice was absolutely perfect—flavorful, well-seasoned, and packed with tender chicken. The portion was generous, and the balance of flavors was just right. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere, and the service was friendly and efficient. Definitely a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Asian flavors.
As the other reviews mentioned, this restaurant really is a hidden gem. The dumplings were absolutely fantastic – by far the best we have had in Cape Town– and the sushi and poke bowl ingredients were so fresh. The service was quick and friendly. The decor is also very cute and the restaurant is right on the harbour, so the view and atmosphere is great. We wish we could have stayed in Simon’s Town longer to visit Red Dumpling a few more times.
Okay, the food and service are amazing. I wanted something different and found this spot underneath the shops at the top, and it was definitely worth it.
Great food and friendly service. One of those places where the interior is similar to the many cheap Asian bistros you find around the world, but with the difference that here, when the food arrives at your table, you can tell that the chef truly cares about making it not only look beautiful but, above all, taste excellent. A genuinely pleasant and unexpected surprise :)
10/10 would recommend. The food is so good. We had lamb dumplings and beef chow mein. Dumplings were so lekker juicy and the chow mein was flavourful. The noodles were such a good texture and the beef strips were crispy and delicious. Can't wait to go back :)
